This dog, born with a spinal deformity, doesn’t realize she’s different thanks to her owner

Tilly is a Tibetan Spaniel dog. Since birth, she has suffered from a rare genetic malformation: shortened spine syndrome. This malformation leads to poor development of the vertebrae. As a result, the spine will never reach its normal size and shape.

This handicap did not prevent the little dog from finding a loving family. Indeed, she lives with Anna Marie Giannini, a young woman who wears her heart on her sleeve. The latter adopted Tilly via an announcement published on social networks.

When they first met, Anna Marie knew her puppy was special. “When I arrived, they told me that one of the puppies was deformed and that they could not find a home for him, which could lead to euthanasia,” the young woman told our colleagues at The Dodo.

After this revelation, the latter decided to take the tiny Tibetan spaniel into her home: “She fit perfectly in my hand, and as we were going home, I took her on me and she lay on my lap . She looked at me with her big brown eyes, and I knew she needed me and I needed her,” she said.

Today, the dog sees life in pink alongside her mistress. Her disability does not prevent her from thriving: “She has no health problems or complications due to her short spine, and we expect her to lead a long and healthy life,” he said. confided Anna Marie to the American site.

On the other hand, the ball of hair is unable to turn its head and move properly. Consequence: her mistress takes great care of her. She does everything possible to help him. For example, she scratches his back and gives him little massages.

Anna Marie and Tilly have developed a beautiful friendship and form an adorable duo. They sleep together, cook together and work together.

Unsurprisingly, Tilly’s unique physique attracts a lot of attention on the street. The other dogs are intrigued by her appearance and are gentler with her: “Tilly doesn’t care and knows that she is capable of anything. She is determined and wants to play with any dog of any size.”
